EMDR therapy: what lies beneath the surface

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is one of the most extensively researched trauma treatments in the world, recognized by the American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the VA. As an EMDRIA-trained therapist, I use EMDR to help clients process experiences that are stored in the body and nervous system in ways that continue to drive their responses, relationships, and daily life, long after the events themselves are over. The iceberg above captures something important: most of what drives us is below the surface. EMDR helps us reach it.

My Approach

How we work together

Full EMDRIA Training

I hold complete EMDRIA training in EMDR, meaning the work follows the evidence-based, structured protocol that research supports.

Bilateral Stimulation

We use eye movements, tapping, or sounds to engage both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously, which supports the processing of stuck memories.

Body-Informed

Trauma lives in the body, not just the mind. EMDR works at the level of nervous system and somatic experience, not just cognition.

Who It Serves

EMDR may be right for you if...

You have tried talk therapy and feel like something is not shifting. Or you know intellectually that an experience is in the past but it does not feel that way in your body. Or you carry memories that still grip you with emotion, sensation, or shame. EMDR was designed for exactly this.
